→GitHub open-sources Spec Kit to guide AI coding with product specifications
GitHub released the open-source Spec Kit, shifting AI coding from direct implementation to product specifications, gap clarification, technical planning, task breakdown, and agent execution, with support for 30+ agent integrations including Copilot, Claude Code, Codex, Gemini, Cursor, and Qwen, and 109K+ GitHub stars.

why featured
HKR-H/K/R all pass: GitHub’s Spec Kit gives a concrete spec-first agent workflow plus 30+ integrations and 109K+ stars. It is a strong tooling story, not a model- or platform-level launch.
editor take
Spec Kit’s 109K stars show the coding-agent bottleneck has moved from code generation to spec discipline.
sharp
GitHub Spec Kit deserves the heat because it moves the expensive part of vibe coding before the agent starts touching code. The concrete mechanism matters: product spec first, then gap clarification, technical plan, task breakdown, then agent execution. It already lists 30+ integrations, including Copilot, Claude Code, Codex, Gemini, Cursor, and Qwen, and has 109K+ GitHub stars.
I don’t buy the “executable development contract” framing yet. A contract needs tests, permissions, review gates, and rollback paths; the snippet does not show that loop. This looks less like a new coding model and more like GitHub dragging Cursor-style individual speed back into team engineering process. Great for orgs with product ambiguity. Heavy for solo builders.
