→OpenAI says at least 4M people in the US used ChatGPT in March 2026 to start or run a small business
OpenAI published its own analysis claiming at least 4 million people in the US used ChatGPT in March 2026 to plan, start, or run a business. Most were not tech founders but sole proprietors in consulting, e-commerce, home services, beauty, and food. They use ChatGPT as a multi-role assistant for copywriting, customer replies, compliance checks, and pricing. Active entrepreneurs made up 71% of these users; marketing and copywriting was the top use case at 26%. Paid plans showed higher active-entrepreneur share: 67% on Free, 78% on Plus, 81% on Pro. OpenAI argues this lowers the fixed cost of starting a business and helps very small firms handle more tasks. The post does not spell out how the 4M figure was isolated from overall ChatGPT usage.
